This blog will act as a diary during my first few months in the grown-up-working-world. Proper work. I got a job in London. A real job where you have to get up early in the morning and come home very late. Ok, no that late.. around 7PM, so you can still do all the fun things like.. getting a iced-dairy-free-caramel-late-with-extra-caramel at 8:45PM even-though you should go to bed at 10PM.
I know that I probably should not be excited about getting up at 6:45AM, but there is something about the smell of freshly brewed coffee and possibilities that gets me out of bed every time. I prefer mornings over evenings and breakfast over dinner. Light over darkness… I think you get the idea.
So you might ask yourself how a girl - like me - got a job in London City? Well, apart from having excellent grades, it took me 3 weeks, 107 applications, 5 face-to-face interviews, a lot of persistence and a really good deodorant. Trust me, the London Underground is the last place you wanna be.
When you are in your last month of college and start looking for jobs, do not give up! People will be rude. They will say no and they will try to bring you down and make you feel like you do not deserve to be successful, because you do not have 12456 years of experience. Do not let them bring you down. You know what you are capable of and you know what you deserve and do not settle for less! My recommendation is to work hard. Believe in yourself and trust your abilities. Your time will come and you will shine. Trust me.
Sometimes you confuse your needs. You don’t need a boyfriend.
You need a black dress, white pearls and red lipstick.
& a drink.
