I do not know about you, but I feel like the days are flying by when I am really busy. I often find myself wondering when the time has gone and when I will be able to calm down and read one of the many books that I have found and wanted to read for a long time. Today I want to tell you what I am doing in order to get more things done.
1. PREPARE YOUR OUTFITS FOR THE WEEK
This one might sound very obvious and I am sure many of you are already doing it, but preparing my outfits for the week and doing all my laundry on the weekend, saves me so much time every morning, as i do not have to worry what I am going to wear. I usually prepare outfits for 5-7 days, so that I have more options. I wash, iron and hang all the clothes, so that I just need to put them on. I think that getting rid of small things in your day such as "what shirt am I going to wear today" allows me to have more time to focus on the important things. I also often find different outfit ideas for work/free time etc on Pinterest. Below you can find one of my work related boards. Bare in mind that I work in Digital Marketing and do not have a strict dressing code.
2. MEAL PREP ON SUNDAY
I think many people do their meal prep on a Sunday, but to be honest I am not really sure how good it is to eat food that has been standing in the fridge for 5 days, so I do my meal prep a bit different. I have a shopping list that has everything on that I need in order to prepare the meals. I prepare food for Monday + Tuesday on Sunday. On Thursday i make food for Wednesday + Thursday and so on. You could do everything at once, but I don't think that eating the same Chicken with Quinoa dish 5 days a week would be appealing to me. I also have to deal with IBS and a few food intolerances, and this is why I do not like to go out and buy my lunch during my break. However, even if you do not have to take care of what you are eating, you can still make your lunch at home in order to save money and to make sure that you are getting in enough nutrients. A few of my favourite recipes are: 1. Avocado Brownies 2. Roasted Shrimp With Asparagus & Broccoli 3. Grilled Chicken & Avocado Wrap Ticking off your meals for the day also saves you a lot of time and money and allows you to be more productive while getting enough nutrients and energy to keep you healthy and focused.
3. LISTEN TO AUDIOBOOKS & TED-TALKS WHILE GETTING READY IN THE MORNING
Most of the time the morning will set your mood for the day, so why not listen to a motivational TED Talk or Audiobook while getting ready for the day. If you have more time in the morning try taking 20 minutes to drink your morning coffee/tea outside or your balcony. The fresh air will help you clear your mind and boost your energy levels. I can recommend the following Audiobooks/TED Talks: 1. Big Magic by Elisabeth Gilbert 2. The power Of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale 3. Power by Robert Greene 4. Do schools Kill Creativity? by Ken Robinson 5. The Happy Secret To Better Life by Shawn Achor
These are a few of my suggestions other than the obvious ones like "Get up early" and have a 'To-Do-List". It might not sound like you are saving a lot of time when you prepare your clothes and meals, but imagine having 2 hours a day where you can just relax, read a book and not worry about what you are going to eat and wear.
By doing 'chores' like laundry, cooking and others on the weekend, you can focus more on your mental health and dreams. If you want to become the next CEO of a big company, the last thing you want to think about it what you are going to wear in the morning. Spend your time wise. Get everyday things done so that you can focus on the important things in life such as your health, family, friends and career.

Today I want to write about the things that inspire me. Of course there are books, songs, smells and places but today I want to focus on videos. Below you can find the videos that I bookmarked and watch over and over again, every time I need a little bit of inspiration. I know that not everyone likes vintage and "the old fashioned" way of doing thing, but please watch one or two videos. They are inspirational and very calming. 1. Linda Rodin on Shopping and Styling Glasses | The Fall Issue | Who What Wear2. How Dita Von Teese *Really* Applies Her Famous Red Lip3. JEAN SHRIMPTON LOOK4. How To: Apply Bold Lipstick, With Linda Rodin5. Tiffany & Co. — “Some Style is Legendary”There are even more videos, but i will stop now. I hope you will find something that will help you get inspired :) and do not forget:
During the month of September the lovely blogger from anonymousblogger999.wordpress.com and I will post things that are related to getting back to school, work or your normal daily routine after a long and hot summer. Do not forget to follow @a_blogger2017 on Twitter as well as her blog on anonymousblogger999.wordpress.com to read her ideas for our 'Back to Blair' Series. I do not know about you, but I could not be happier that the summer is over. So grab your Pumpkin Spice Latte, a cosy sweater and light a candle and embrace the fall season aka. the best season of the year! In my first 'Back to Blair' post, I wanted to include books. We all know how much Blair loves art, fashion and history. We also know how much she admires powerful women throughout history, so I thought it would be great to create a wish-list packed with books that I would love to read and Blair of course would approve. Here on Waldorf Dreams, we do everything according to the Blair Waldorf standard, if Blair would not do it, then it is probably not good enough. Only the best of the best things are good enough. The following books are on my personal wish-list and maybe you can get a few ideas for Christmas. We all have that one friend that has more books than clothes... in my case I am the friend. I hope that you like my little selection of books. Enjoy!
I could add book after book, but I think i will stop now and save my other suggestions for the Christmas wish list. I hope that some of the books might interest you.
No matter what, always ask yourself: 'what would Blair Waldorf do?' and like I said in my very first blogpost, do not forget to remember the Queen of Paris: Coco Chanel. Today I want to write about my all-time favourite quotes. I do not know why, but I am person that remembers quotes from movies, books and songs. Being the weird person I am, I can almost... connect a specific quote to a Thursday in October. Or the smell of freshly brewed coffee. I do not know if you understand what I mean, but words re more than just words. I might be that I am so obsessed with words because I love writing and I used to do Poetry Slam, nevertheless, here are my favourite quotes. “Aprils have never meant much to me, autumns seem that season of beginning, spring.” "There was once a very lovely, very frightened girl. She lived alone, except for a nameless cat." “I want to still be me when I wake up one fine morning and have breakfast at Tiffany´s.” ― Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany's “So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” “They’re a rotten crowd’, I shouted across the lawn. ‘You’re worth the whole damn bunch put together.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby “Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen.” “If you really want something you don’t stop for anyone or anything until you get it" “Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It’s movement, design, and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we’d like to be.” ― Blair Waldorf, Gossip Girl “When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I bought Vogue instead of dinner. I found it fed me more.” "Maybe the past is like an anchor holding us back. Maybe you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be." "Beauty is fleeting, but a rent-controlled apartment overlooking the park is forever." ― Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City “Thank goodness for the first snow, it was a reminder--no matter how old you became and how much you'd seen, things could still be new if you were willing to believe they still mattered.” “She had very little money, but she wasn't afraid-there was only one place to go, and that was up.” ― Candace Bushnell, Lipstick Jungle "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." ― Coco Chanel What are your favourite quotes?
![]() Today I want to introduce you to my new series called: Bree van de Kamp Series. I was looking for a fun way to share recipes with you guys and since Bree is everyones favourite Desperate Housewife, I thought let's give my recipes a Bree van de Kamp twist. I will show you how easy it is to bake and cook food from scratch, that even Bree van de Kamp would approve. Today I will share with you my fool proof way of making pretzels, at home, from scratch. You know that Bree would never just go out and buy ordinary store bought pretzels, so why should you :)? Of course I am joking and there is nothing wrong with buying pretzels, but I wanted to share my easy dairy free recipe with you anyway (yes, I am lactose intolerant, how Bree van de Kamp of me). For aprox. 6-8 pretzels (depending on how big you ant to make them) you will need:
3. Take out the dough. Knead it again and cut the pice up into 6-8 pieces. You could weight them to make sure that every single one will be the exact same size, but I usually do not do it. It is homemade after all. 4. Roll the dough into a dough "snake" and try to keep the middle part thicker, as this will be the middle part of the pretzel. Twist the ends 2x and bring up and attach to the left and right side. it sounds more complicated than it is. Just try it out, there is no right or wrong. Let the pretzels dry for 15-20 minutes, as this helps with the next step. 5. Boil the water and add the bicarbonate of soda. Add the pretzels one by one into the cooking solution and wait until they come up to the surface of the water. Take them out and put them on a baking sheet. Sprinkle coarse salt or herbs on top. 6. Bake on 200°C or 400 degrees F for 15-20 minutes. The pretzels should have their signature dark colour. I hope you liked my recipe and I hope you will give it a try as it is really easy to make from scratch.
Today I want to write about YouTubers that you might not know yet. I feel like those YouTubers deserve even more subscribers and attention and this is why I will present them to you. When I was younger, I used to watch videos by very famous YouTubers, however I find that they all do the same things and I do not feel like they are doing something unique and different. They usually hold items into the camera or do their make-up for fall, summer, spring and winter. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that they are bad or should stop what they are doing, I am just saying that I was looking for unique people. Somebody who can inspire me to be different and be myself at the same time. Maybe I grew up and saw that there is more to make up than just a pretty face and expensive products. Here are a few YouTubers for you to check out and fall in love with. Enjoy! 1. VIOLETTE Hapers Bazaar wrote the following about her: ".. Ever heard of Violette? If you’re not acquainted with the French makeup-artist-turned-it-girl yet, you’re sure to see her name around the traps this year — especially after her appointment as the new Global Beauty Director of Estée Lauder.." (click here to read full article). Violette is a Parisian makeup artist living in New York and she is incredibly gorgeous and creative. I love her videos as they are calming and a breath of fresh air in a world of girls that are trying to have the perfect insta-brows and Kim K Contour. Violette does not show you how to get a flawless look by putting on make-up, but instead, she is showing how to care for your body, mind and skin so that you can enhance your natural beauty with a few simple steps. I highly recommend her channel and I promises that you will inspired by her aesthetics beautiful French accent. You will ditch your heavy foundation, start caring for your skin and embrace your natural beauty. You can find her on YouTube on her channel violette_fr Justine Is a French fashion designer who created her own womenswear label in Berlin. She also has a YouTube channel called Justine Leconte officiel. Similarly to Violette, Justine is very creative, different and just not the standard YouTuber that is only holding things into the camera, but instead she is teaching her viewers how to always look polished and chic. Especially her French Chic series are worth watching as she explains everything beautifully. After watching her videos you will not go out shopping for things, but you will go out and buy clothes that fit your style, your body and will make you feel chic and sophisticated. 3. LINDA RODIN Okay, okay, Linda Rodin might not be a YouTuber, however I really want you to watch her videos. You will soon notice that she is such a unique person with a unique personally. Linda created her own range of lipsticks and lipliners, that all match perfectly and one of the lipsticks she named Billie on the Bike, a purple shade named after her mother. I do not why, but things like that are what products and marketing is all about. You can give the perfect name to a product, but it will never be as perfect as a name that has meaning behind it. After watching videos of Linda Rodin, a bright lipstick and a pair of sunglasses will be the only things that you will need in order to feel fabulous. I hope you liked my little list of unique YouTuber's, who is your favourite YouTuber?
1. DREAM BIG AND DON'T STOP UNTIL YOU MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE Okay, I am one of those people that dream way too big, but guess what, it will not do you any harm to do so. Just like Norman Vincent Peale said: 'Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.' Blair taught me to always go the extra mile towards my goal and to never give up. I think that she probably inspired many young girls to go after their dreams.. Before you give up, always ask yourself, what would Blair Waldorf do? 2. TO NEVER GIVE UP Blair taught me that life is not as easy as one might think, however, if you work hard and believe in yourself and your goals, you will succeed. I must admit that every time I need a little motivation I watch a bit of Gossip Girl and magically, I can't wait for the morning to come, to put on a nice outfit and go out and work hard to reach my dreams. I even have a PRADA picture hanging in my apartment, just like the one in Serena's apartment... I am weird... I know, but it motivates me, so who cares :) 3. TO BE A BUSINESS WOMAN To be honest I wanted to go to uni since I was 6 years old. I always told everyone how I will be going to university when i grow up. Yes, I was one of those children that were really annoying and would question everything the teacher told us, because I read something else.. When I turned 14, I was sure that I want to study International Business Management and Marketing and all those years from then up till now, I have been asking myself: what would Blair Waldorf do? 4. GREEN PISTACHIO MACAROONS ARE THE BEST 5. WHEN IN DOUBT, DRESS LIKE AUDREY HEPBURN I mean if it is good enough for Blair Waldorf, then it is certainly good enough for me. You see, Audrey is always with us, one way or another. This was a collab with @a_blogger2017 and you should definitely go and check out her post on the things that Blair Waldorf taught her. You can find her here: BLOG: anonymousblogger999.wordpress.com TWITTER: @a_blogger2017 Tomorrow is Friday - finally! I thought I would give you a few suggestions on how to start the weekend right and since this is a Waldorf Dreams blog, of course I have to add a little twist and write about the things that Blair Waldorf would approve. Now, take off your make-up, put the kettle on and change into your comfy PJ's and enjoy. take care of yourself. Take care of your body and especially your mind. Relax and think about the day that you will take over the world.
I hope you will you have a great weekend!
I have had this blog for exactly 1 week and 2 days now and a few days ago, the girl behind the @OutOfTeaBag blog (yes, you should totally go and follow her.. like now! Go!)she was actually the first person to DM me on Twitter, so I freaked out and smiled like an idiot for 5 minutes straight.. but.. let’s not talk about me, let’s talk about the Liebster Award and the good part, which is meeting new people and getting to know them. Today I will post my response to the 11 questions that I was asked. I must admit that I did not nominate only people under 200 Followers, but I do not think getting to know other people is ever wrong, no matter what the number behind their name says... THE RULES: Answer the 11 questions that your nominator has asked you.
@OutOfTeaBag’s Questions For Me: 1. If you had to have 3 celebrities to dinner who would they be? - I do not know if I can choose someone who technically died, but I will just name 3 celebrities that are alive and 3 which sadly passed away. Audrey Hepburn – because she is.. perfection. Coco Chanel – because she is my inspiration and everytime I am stuck or need new ideas, I try to think what she would have done. I love her. Also the INSIDE CHANEL series on YouTube are awesome! James Dean – because I feel that he was misunderstood and that we have kind of the same personality. James Franco – because he looks like James Dean and I would love to talk about art and poetry and cats with him. Karl Lagerfeld – because I wanted to be a designer when I was younger and I would love to hear his critique on my drawings and his suggestions on how to improve it. Larry the Cat from 10 Downing Street – because he would make a great prime Meow-ister. 2. What song do you know all the lyrics to? Oh, definitely quite a few, but I will list a few of my favourites: Coldplay – Viva La Vida The Killers – Mr Bright Side Taylor Swift – Clean Sam Hunt – Bottle It Up Everything by Fall Out boy basically The Script – If You Could See Me Now Taylor Swift – The Luck One Like 2635 other song 3. Where in the world would you like to live? London and that is where I live right now. I wanted to live here since I was 14 and now here I am. 4. What do you want to achieve from blogging? Share my thoughts and write them down, so that I can clear my mind. Sometimes I feel like my thoughts are running away, but they are good thoughts, so I want to find a way to catch them and a blog is a perfect solution. Also I love writing a lot…. I mean A LOT! 5. What’s been the best day of your life so far? I feel like there are many “best days” in life, as every stage of your life brings new opportunities, but one of the best days was when I got my first job in London... also the day of my Graduation, because my mom was so proud :) 6. Three things that make you smile? Cats, strangers and people that smile back on the street or bus, early mornings and the smell of clean linen. 7. Whats your favourite animal? Since I have a cat named Victory, I will say a cat :) 8. What’s your favourite Disney film? Lady and the Tramp 9. How would you describe your style of blog? Preppy-girl-trying-her-best-to-build-her-empire-meeting-other-blair-waldorfs-decaf-dairy-free-iced-caramel-latte 10. What is your favourite quote? Since I love writing, reading and poetry I could never decide which one I like the most, so I will give you my current top 3: "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby "They’re a rotten crowd’, I shouted across the lawn. ‘You’re worth the whole damn bunch put together." ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby "Sometimes you confuse your needs. You don’t need a boyfriend. You need a black dress, white pearls and red lipstick. And a drink." — Hedonist Poem 11. If you had to pick one…book or film? - Book: (The Great Gatsby)
Everyone I know hates Mondays. Everyone except me. I already wrote about getting up early, smelling the coffee and looking forward to a new day, but today I want to give you a few tips that should help you to hate Mondays a little less. ![]()
1. Prepare, prepare, prepare. If you prepare your lunch for the next day - I have to as I have 235473654 food intolerances and iBS, so I can not just buy something - you will not have to run to the store, you will also not have to eat fast food and most importantly, you will know what you are eating. You can not be productive without energy and you will not have energy without food, so plan ahead and save yourself some time as well as money. Try to bring fresh veggies and fruits, these can be eaten in-between meals.
If you do not have the perfect background music for your life yet, here is my "Waldorf Empire" playlist.
